South Bay Veterinary Hospital embraces our mission to be the most reliable, responsible, and respected providers of veterinary services to pets and their owners. Through genuine commitment, quality education, and care we will create satisfied clients who are happy with their pet’s health care and will actively refer others to our practice. Pets deserve the very best care and South Bay Veterinary Hospital offers it SEVEN days a week. Our AAHA-accredited animal hospital has long been offering the very best in animal care – since 1956 – with a full-service animal vet clinic serving the San Diego community. The knowledgeable and compassionate staff at our Chula Vista veterinary hospital includes five veterinarians, a team of experienced nurses and veterinary technicians, groomers, and managers that ensure our animal hospital’s administration runs as smoothly as your pet’s visits.
Meet Our Vets
Dr. Jagpal Deo
Dr. Deo has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1992. After an internship in Ames, Iowa, he moved to Los Angeles, California to contribute to a multi-doctor practice there. After working two years in Los Angeles, he moved to Chula Vista with his family to start his own practice. He purchased South Bay Veterinary Hospital in 1994.
He thoroughly enjoys practicing veterinary medicine. His vision is to make pets live longer while controlling the medical cost with preventive care. In 2003, Dr. Deo was named “most admired” and “best veterinarian” in Chula Vista and has held that title for five consecutive years.
He currently leads a six-doctor practice and provides San Diego with comprehensive and personalized pet care. In his free time, Dr. Deo likes to walk and hike along the beach, but more importantly spend time with his family.
Dr. Mark W. Ford
Dr. Ford has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1981. After 2 years practicing at the Manila Zoo, Dr. Ford returned to UC Davis for a second DVM, graduating in 1984 with the distinct honor of “Best Surgical Hands in Class”.
Experienced with small animal surgery, as well as exotics, reptiles, and rabbits, Dr. Ford has brought his talents to many veterinary hospitals throughout Southern California.
Eventually branching out on his own in 2004, Dr. Ford continued to provide excellent service to his patients and their families from Lake Murray to San Carlos, eventually bringing his skills to South Bay Veterinary Hospital in Chula Vista.
Dr. Ford enjoys home gardening, running in the local canyon with his dogs, and writing, producing, and performing Christian rock-n-roll music with his band, The Del Marsians.
Dr. Fabio Munoz
Dr. Munoz has been a veterinarian for over 25 years. Growing up in Bogota, Columbia and continuing his education in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Munoz now shares his experience with our clients at both our South Bay Veterinary Hospital and University Pet Hospital. He has a furry little cat named Poquita and when not serving the community, Dr. Munoz enjoys spending time with friends and family, biking, working out, and the outdoors in general.
When asked what he enjoys about veterinary medicine besides a love for animals, Dr. Munoz states, “Veterinary medicine is a career of endless variety and multiple opportunities. No two days are the same & each one represents a constant challenge: Looking for a different approach to find answers to solve our furry friends & owners issues.”
